perhaps...?

one way or another
i can still say i am content
this was all we've really ever been
and this is the way we are now
and
perhaps
nothing will change
no matter how much i want it to
i can never really understand why it had to be that way
but as always
i succumbed to the situation
and here i am writing
all my ramblings
i would never have the courage to tell you
what really goes on in my mind
nor do i think
you possessed the necessary courage as well
our friends may see and know what we have both been trying hard to deny
and yet do nothing
it has always been between you and me
nobody else
so here we are
and as always stuck at the crossroads
with nowhere else to go
but instead of moving forward or even backwards
we both stayed
right here
where everything is balance, safe and organized
just very GOOD friends..
that can go on to nothing but a
PERHAPS...
