the oscars...

is way better this year than last year's.
I just love all those singing.

Thinking about Mary.

Mary Saludares, a 20-year-old member of The Washington Ballet Studio Company, was struck and killed by a car Friday night in Edgewood, State Police said.

The award-winning company was scheduled to perform Sunday at 4 and 7:30 at at Howard Community College's Smith Theater as part of the Candlelight Concert Society's Family Series, but The Washington Ballet announced in a release that it had canceled the remainder of its tour. The release said the group was on tour in Harford County when the accident occurred.

According to the State Police, Saludares was crossing Route 24 at Edgewood Road just after 10 p.m. when she was struck by a southbound silver Chevrolet Impala driven by Robert Kane of Abingdon. Saludares was pronounced dead at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

State Police were investigating the accident.

“No words can describe the pain of losing Mary,” said The Washington Ballet Artistic Director Septime Webre. “She was not only a beautiful dancer, but a radiant soul who emitted peace and joy. The entire TWB family mourns her passing and extends its thoughts and prayers to Mary’s family.”

Saludares began dancing at the age of 6 under Sofia Elizalde and Raul Sauz at Steps Dance Studio in Manila, Philippines. In 2006, she received the highest Royal Academy of Dance Award, the Solo Seal. She had
the honor of being the first Filipino entry in the 2006 Adeline Genée International Ballet Competition.

In 2004, she received the Luva Adameit Award in the first NAMCYA Ballet Competition in the Philippines. She later attended the School of American Ballet and The Washington School of Ballet's Release Time year-round prog
ram. She was selected to join The Washington Ballet Studio Company for its 2008-2009 season, achieving one of her dreams of moving from student to professional.

Saludares is survived by her father, José M. Saludares Jr.; her mother, Marissa S. Saludares; and two brothers, Patrick Vincent Saludares and Bryan Joseph Saludares.

Students and staff are being offered grief counseling services. A memorial service is being planned for early March in Washington to honor Saludares. A private family funeral will be held in the Philippines in the coming days.

Sunday

There is nothing like death to ground us back to life.
I was minding my own business, stressing about CTK,

essentially doing nonsensical stuffs when I received
a barrage of messages from high-school friends
all about what happened to
our dear and beloved
batchmate Mary Saludares.
Upon receiving the news, I cried for a very long time.

I remembered Mary as the ballerina who always dance
at important school events. She was the girl stretching

her long legs at that STEPS poster. The girl who keeps on
asking me what my baon is for that day. The girl who
continually pokes my back just because she was bored
and got nothing else to do. The girl who LOVES to eat and
can possibly "out-eat" anyone in an eating contest despite
her thin physique. The girl that nobody can beat in the

flexibility part of the Physical Exam in PE class because
she can stretch herself in a very inhuman sort of way.
The girl who laughs at even t
he corniest jokes. The girl
who tells me stories about dance school and ballet mirrors.
The girl who jokes about men in tight pants. The girl
who tickles me until I am almost out of breath.
The girl who loves making funny faces in front of

the camera. The girl who can dance to almost any tune.
The girl who dreams of dancing at Broadway and making it big
someday...

and probably one of the best dancers that I have ever know

what is it with sharing that everyone finds so incomprehensible?

it just bothers me completely

last day in com14.

---------------------------------
Totally Disturbing.
I got goosebumps from the moment
I saw the aerial shot of the WTC.
At first it was ok
because the film began with
just a series of interviews
interlaced with photos
but then they started showing
these footages of him walking
across thin air in Notredame
and I just lost it.
I HATE HEIGHTS.
Not as much as I used to
but there is still a considerable
amount of dislike present.
I was forcefully reminded of how
afraid I was of heights when
I watched that film.
But don't misinterpret me,
I did like the film although
I do have some nasty comments about it.
First, there was too much conversations
and interviews. It became quite boring.
Second, the ending was kind of disappointing.
But only because it wasn't a happy ending.
They should have ended with the part where
he succeeded and just left out the parts where
the friends went their own ways.
It made the "hero" less of a hero because his
character was suddenly tainted with "blind"
want for success.
Third, what's up with the love story?
The love story part was quite enjoyable
but then I don't think it was really necessary.
Fourth, it was not made clear whether it was really
passion that moved him or if it was ambition.
I really don't like open ended movies.
Fifth, the show of a lot of naked bodies.
Is just freakishly disturbing especially when
you see the old versions of those bodies right after...

BUT OVERALL IT WAS A GOOD DAY
:)

muni-muni...

Looking at a series of photographs...
reading captions...
laughing at comments...
browsing through memories..
"I forgot how beautiful it is..."

would I feel the same way about Ateneo?
would I miss the chapel, Bel, Zen garden and even Meron pond?
I think I will...
a few years from now
I would probably look at pictures
and read captions
and laugh at the comments
with the same nostalgic feeling

haaayyy...
its really starting to sink in na...

artists.

starving artist eh?
why should an artist starve for his art?
is it not possible for passion
to yield something other than what we call
artistic?
it is an undisputed reality
that misconceptions always occur.
why then should the artist pay for
other people's mistakes?

escapism.

I'm writing now because I have so much to do but
can't think of anything fruitful so to escape
this apparently worker's block I sought
refuge in my virtual reality.

I just finished surfing the net and found this

I love Step It Up and Dance
because the show reminds me so much of an ex-"love"
and of course because of Cody
I mean hello! who can resist Cody???
that man alone is reason enough to watch
hahaha!
that "man in the mirror" episode is one of my
favorite episodes
I love the song, the choreography
and the style of the dance

anyway

I also found this poetry forum site
I joined and posted some of my works there
and the latest one that I have uploaded
managed to garner a number of really weird
but nonetheless good comments
It seemed to be quite controversial
don't know why though
it was just a simple dialogue
type of poem
about heartache and separation
but the readers apparently see something
more sinister embedded in it
I must say that some people are really
imaginative and critical
but I love the way they responded to my poem
I feel really happy that a lot of them get
what I'm trying to convey

so...
what else can I write about

hhmmmm

I have philo quiz tomorrow
but I haven't studied
but its ok
the topic's pretty easy
its about hope and faith
and sometimes love
you know naman how everything
seems to be interconnected in Philo
I understand the lesson pretty well
and I think that even if I didn't study
I'd still be fine
hehe!
I can almost say I'm a natural at this
hahaha!
in fact that little about me
thing at the right part of this blog
that I wrote a few months back
can actually make Marcel proud
hahaha!
I think its the perfect example for his
absolute faith thingy
(kidding!)
;p

hehe
